Introduced in 1983 as a bridge between the 42 and 50 Super Sport models, the Ocean 46 is a typical Jersey-style canyon runner with a relatively flat bottom and very quick performance. For a fishing boat, the interior was considered lush (by mid '80s standards), and the attractive teak woodwork and cabinetry and high-style decor helped make this a very popular boat. The list of standard equipment was equally impressive -- teak cockpit sole and covering boards, molded-in tackle center, freezer, etc. Most were sold with the optional factory hardtop. A fast boat, the 46SS will cruise at 25 knots reach a top speed of 29-30 knots with standard 450-hp 6-71s. Optional 475-hp 6V92s cruise at 27 knots (about 30-knots top). With over 160 built the 46 SS became one of Ocean's best-selling models.
