In January 2003 I founded & launched Temptation Yacht Sales & http://www.temptationyachtsales.com
My exposure to the marine industry (professionally) began in 1997 with a marine services start-up specializing in maintenance programs for 18’-50’ + vessels in the Lake St. Clair, MI market.
Incorporated in 2010, Temptation Yacht Sales, Inc. has been the exclusive professional focus of mine since 2003. My business plan was to configure a yacht brokerage service that would be different from the rest focusing on contractual terms, fee structure, inventory selection, and strict customer service goals.
Born and raised in South Eastern Michigan I’ve been boating my entire life. Today my Wife Kelly and I along with our two Children (Lyndon & Ivanka) enjoy boating on Lake St. Clair and surrounding waterways.
I’m committed to the future growth and success of this company. I’m passionate about what I’m doing with Temptation Yacht Sales, Inc and am proud to say after almost 10-years I still absolutley love what I’m so fortunate to do every day!

John Oeftering was born and raised in South Eastern Michigan. He joined Temptation Yacht Sales, Inc. in the Fall of 2011. John is a second generation Great Lakes Boater, and has been boating on Lake St. Clair the majority of his life. In addition to the Great Lakes, John has spent considerable time boating in South Florida during the winter months.
Selling boats has been a life long passion. His Father gave him his official start back in the 60s while working at the original “Harbor Hill Marina” on the Detroit River. His well rounded, hands on approach has helped him manage and supervise boat sales over the years.
